„The agreement is very shaky, though there is still time and chance to change it. It is possible and it is necessary to achieve much more in Copenhagen. We hope that the final agreement will be filled with real content,” comments Zbigniew Karaczun from Polish Ecological Club Mazovian Branch, member of Climate Coalition. Karaczun adds that “the decision of COP 15 must include specific reduction commitments for developed countries as well as amounts that they should allocate for the implementation of climate policies in developing countries. It must be legally binding rather than serving as a foreground for photos depicting politicians shaking hands. Every other outcome will be seen as an act of pulling the wool over people’s eyes.”
When this information is distributed, the session “of a last resort” is in progress, e.g. informal debate at the high-rank level that is supposed to prevent the rejection of the agreement by the G77 countries and China. These countries threaten not to sign an empty political declaration.
