“We are glad that Prime Minister found time to meet with Polish non-governmental organizations. We hope that his declarations to act in the name of climate protection will translate into decisive actions, that is to say Poland will change its position and will give its support for unconditional increase of the emission reduction target of the EU. Poland’s support for an ambitious reduction target will be an important spur to move forward,” says Julia Michalak from Greenpeace Poland.
During the meeting Prime Minister also gave its support for the demands of Climate Coalition as far as the creation of low carbon economy in Poland is concerned. “Such a transformation will make it possible to introduce innovation, modernization as well as to create a knowledge-based society. It will not only allow to meet strict climate protection requirements, but it will also serve as a way to make Poland a better competitor. Mr. Tusk agreed with us that in this respect,” summed up Andrzej Kassenberg from the Institute for Sustainable Development, a member of Climate Coalition.
