Since August 2008 Climate Coalition has been carrying out a national campaign called 'Climate Tour', in the framework of which it organizes meetings with experts in the field of climate change. Participants recieve broad knowledge about global warming and activities pursued for climate protection in Poland and abroad. Participation in the meetings allows also for better understanding of the international climate negotiations process, most importantly annual Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change, the last one being held in Poznan in Dec 2008. Moreover, one of the most important educational aims of the campaign is to encourage the participants to make their own effords in order to protect climate and point out the options for its protection in every day life.
The campaign is targeted at a very broad audience throughout Poland. Participants to the lectures include members of local communities, authorities and NGOs as well as students.
In 2008 the campaign was remarkably successful, with even better results than the organizers expected. 8 experts gave lectures, all from the member organizations of the Coalition. There were 12 meetings organized in 11 cities, and together they gathered around 500 participants. Based on these results it was decided to proceed with this action. In 2009 and early 2010 was held 10 meetings, involving a total of over 550 people.
Climate Coalition also recognizes the need of spreading knowledge in smaller towns. Therefore meeting called "Lessons from climate" will be continued in the period from September 2010 to March 2011.
Climate Coalition wishes to further spread knowlegde on climate issues throughout the country. Therefore it has restarted 'Climate Tour' campaign this year and warmly welcomes everbody who may be interested to participate.
